The first thing you may notice with coax cable is their RG-type. The RG cable originated as cable adhering to ‘Radio Guide’ standards, but soon many different versions began appearing that didn’t adhere to RG standard. Hence the addition of a number. RG coax cables were numbered almost arbitrarily, meaning that the number does not determine the quality or application. While CATV applications commonly use RG6 cable and RG11 cable, it still important to know that you are buying quality coaxial cable from a reputable company like us.

Coax Cables are probably the simplest to understand—it is 1 conductor surrounded by protective layers. While there are many different variations, the first protective layer is usually an interior insulation, the second is copper shielding, and the third is an exterior insulation. We stock a few variations including standard shielded and quad shielded. Shielding serves two purposes for coaxial cable—one, to protect the cable from signal loss and electromagnetic interference, and two, to serve as a ground wire. Our quad shield coax cable has four layers of shielding, preventing nearly any signal loss and interference. Also, consider the jacket. There are a few different jackets—some are for indoor use, some outdoor. We offer two outdoor rated coaxial cables. Our standard shield and quad shield coax cables are great solutions for outdoor applications.
